Traffic Usage FAQs

Answer common questions about traffic usage.

1. Will unused traffic expire? Can unused traffic be rolled over to the next cycle?

Unused traffic will not expire or be cleared. If you renew your package, the remaining traffic will roll over to your next renewal cycle.

Take the monthly package with 10GB traffic as an example: if you have 3GB remaining at the end of January and renew your package, your total available traffic for February will be 13GB — consisting of the new 10GB from the renewed package plus the rolled-over 3GB from January.

If you do not renew your package, your remaining traffic will be frozen until you purchase a new package. Once a new package is activated, the unused traffic will be added to your current package.

2. How much traffic should I purchase?

We recommend selecting a suitable traffic package based on your business scale to avoid hitting the traffic limit.

3. What are the traffic calculation rules?

Traffic consumption for dynamic residential proxies is calculated by combining upstream traffic (data sent from the client to the proxy server) and downstream traffic (data returned from the proxy server to the client). All data transmitted through the proxy server counts towards traffic usage.

Traffic is measured in base‑10 units (1GB = 1000MB). The calculation standard remains consistent for HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 protocols.

Traffic is counted only for successful requests with data transmission. Failed requests such as timeouts with no data returned will not consume traffic. You may view real‑time traffic consumption records under My products > Dynamic residential > Traffic usage.

If you have questions about traffic statistics, please contact our support team to check your traffic logs.

4. Why is my actual traffic consumption higher than expected?

Traffic calculation for dynamic residential proxies counts both upstream traffic (data sent from your client to the proxy server) and downstream traffic (data returned from the proxy server to your client). The sum of both directions makes up your total traffic usage.

Other factors that increase traffic consumption:

  • Page resource loading: Images, videos, scripts, fonts, API requests and other static assets on web pages generate traffic. Background auto‑refresh and preloaded content are also counted.
  • Retry requests: When network instability or target website blocks occur, automatic retry requests initiated by your client consume traffic for every successful transmission.
  • Protocol overhead: Handshakes, request headers, response headers and other network packets of HTTP/HTTPS/SOCKS5 protocols consume a small amount of traffic.
  • Concurrent requests: Multiple tasks or threads accessing websites in parallel generate traffic simultaneously and may use up traffic quickly.

5. How do I check my remaining traffic balance?

You can view your remaining traffic balance under My Products > Dynamic residential.

6. How do I renew my traffic?

You can refer to this document to learn about the traffic renewal process.
